Here's my best answer...I did not shave for about a week and a half and used a self waxing kit. The brand name was Sally Hansen and they were the wax strips that warm up in your hands. The box says that they work on short hair. I think if you go to a salon, they recommend longer hair growth to work. If you can handle the pain, do it yourself!

If it's long enough for you to grab with your fingertips, it's long enough to wax.
As long as you can stand it to be! 1/4 of an inch is about the minimum for the wax to really grab the hair and pull it out cleanly, but the longer it is, the better. The longer you grow it out, the fewer hairs that will be in a dormant growth cycle, so when they are pulled out, you will have a smoother result, longer.
the longer the better... because they will be able to grab more hairs.. only about 3 centimeters is necessary. nothing crazy
